The Ficus elastica ‘Abidjan’, also known as the Abidjan Rubber Plant or Rubber Tree, is a striking tropical houseplant prized for its large, glossy leaves that emerge in deep burgundy before maturing to rich, dark green. This elegant indoor plant adds height, colour, and a contemporary feel to homes and offices, making it a popular choice for both modern interiors and plant collections. Its easy-care nature and bold architectural form make it ideal for beginners and experienced plant enthusiasts alike.
Light: Ficus ‘Abidjan’ thrives in bright, indirect light, where it will produce strong, healthy growth and maintain its rich foliage colour. It can tolerate some gentle morning or evening sun, but avoid prolonged direct afternoon sunlight, which may scorch the leaves.
Water: Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly, ensuring excess water drains away freely. This tropical houseplant prefers lightly moist soil but should never be left sitting in water. Reduce watering during the cooler months when growth naturally slows.

Our 'Enviro-boxes' have been developed in conjunction with WRAP, the Waste and Resources Action Programme, the Enviro-box offers a sustainable and reliable alternative to larger double wall boxes.
Delivery Info
Nationwide Shipping
Online orders are processed and dispatched within seven business days. The standard delivery fee is £5.95 for orders below £65; free shipping for orders above £65. Our plants are shipped Monday to Wednesday. Orders received Thursday to Sunday will be shipped the following Monday to avoid live plant products sitting in warehouses over the weekend. Your order will be sent via DPD or Royal Mail using their next day service.
Click & Collect
All our products are available for Click and Collect from our Chiswick store at 21 Turnham Green Terrace, W4 1RG. We will notify you once your order is ready to collect from our store but we aim to have them ready 1 hour after receiving your order. If you would rather collect your purchase from our Northfields store please contact us before placing your order and we will see if this can be facilitated.
