Details

The Tillandsia usneoides, also known as Spanish Moss, is a fascinating air plant prized for its long, cascading strands of fine, silvery-grey foliage. Unlike traditional houseplants, Spanish Moss is an epiphyte that naturally grows attached to trees rather than in soil, absorbing moisture and nutrients through its leaves. Its dramatic trailing growth makes it perfect for hanging displays, terrariums, mounted arrangements, and unusual indoor plant collections, where it creates a distinctive tropical look without requiring a pot or compost.

Light: Tillandsia usneoides thrives in bright, indirect light with good air circulation. It can tolerate some gentle morning or evening sun, but avoid prolonged harsh direct sunlight, particularly when grown indoors, as this can cause the delicate foliage to dry out.

Water: Thoroughly soak or rinse the entire plant approximately once or twice a week, increasing frequency in warm, dry conditions. After watering, gently shake away excess moisture and hang the plant somewhere with good airflow so it can dry completely within a few hours. Spanish Moss appreciates moderate to high humidity but should not remain constantly wet, as poor airflow and trapped moisture can cause rot.

We use environmentally friendly packaging where possible including 'Enviro-boxes', fully recyclable paper tape, biodegradable bubble wrap and starch packing peanuts which are fully soluble when saturated with water. Our 'Enviro-boxes' have been developed in conjunction with WRAP, the Waste and Resources Action Programme, the Enviro-box offers a sustainable and reliable alternative to larger double wall boxes.

Online orders are processed and dispatched within seven business days. The standard delivery fee is £5.95 for orders below £65; free shipping for orders above £65. Our plants are shipped Monday to Friday. Your order will be sent via Royal Mail or DPD using their next day service.

Click & Collect
All our products are available for Click and Collect from our Chiswick store at 21 Turnham Green Terrace, W4 1RG. We will notify you once your order is ready to collect from our store but we aim to have them ready 1 hour after receiving your order.

*Unfortunately due to the high cost of shipping. We are unable to ship plants to the Islands of Scotland, the Scottish Highlands, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Isle of White, the Scilly Isles and the Channel Islands, however please email us to see if we can find a solution*
