Araucaria Heterophylla | Norfolk Island Pine | 21cm pot

Araucaria heterophylla, also known as the Norfolk Island Pine, Norfolk Pine or Living Christmas Tree, is an elegant evergreen houseplant prized for its soft, feathery green foliage and beautifully symmetrical, tiered branches. Despite its pine-like appearance, this distinctive plant is not a true pine but a tropical conifer native to Norfolk Island. Its graceful, architectural shape makes it a stunning statement plant for living rooms, offices, conservatories and contemporary interiors. Particularly popular as a natural alternative to a traditional Christmas tree, Araucaria heterophylla can be enjoyed as an attractive indoor plant throughout the year.

Light: Araucaria heterophylla thrives in bright, indirect light and benefits from some gentle morning or evening sunlight. A bright position near a window is ideal for encouraging healthy, balanced growth. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sunlight and very low-light conditions. Rotate the plant occasionally to help maintain its naturally symmetrical shape.

Water: Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry slightly between waterings, then water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away freely. Norfolk Island Pines prefer consistently lightly moist soil but should never be left sitting in water. Avoid allowing the root ball to dry out completely, as this can cause browning and needle drop. Higher humidity is beneficial, particularly during winter when indoor heating can make the air dry.
